Genre, canon and gender in literary culture of Serbia
lecture by professor of the University of Wroclaw in Poland, prof. dr. Magdalena Koch
Prof. dr. Magdalena Koch is a polonist who was devoted to the study of Balkan culture in the 90s, and in particular explores cultural colonialism and post-colonialism in the Balkans in the works of the Balkan (Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian) novelists and writers. In this light, the position of women in the culture of the Balkans is a key to defining cultural phenomena.
The lecture and discussion were based on her book “When we mature as a culture. Creativity of Serbian writers at the beginning of the 20th century (the canon – the genre – the gender)”, published in Belgrade in 2009.
